Online journalists gotta eat, too
May 17 , 2004

In the 12 weeks that SevenOaksMag.com has been online, we’ve been visited by tens of thousands of readers from around the world. The quality of writing showcased in Seven Oaks magazine every week has been such that numerous stories have been picked up or linked by prominent sources, such as Rabble.ca, DominionPaper.ca, ZMag.org, and TheTyee.ca. We’ve even recorded a spoken version of one story requested for radio. It’s been clear from the start that thinkers and activists have found our site to be a useful, engaging alternative to the corporate press, and so we’ve felt no need for humble pie — which is good, because we can’t afford the crust.

In order to put the time and energy necessary into our continuing publication, we need the help of readers, content contributors, and financial sustainers. A handful of very wonderful people have sent much-appreciated contributions our way, some on a monthly-sustainer basis. Small, independent voices such as ours can thrive on such generosity, provided the numbers of those willing to help are there. Any donation, no matter how small or obscenely large, is appreciated.

We also need your help in continuing to get the word out. If you like what you’re reading, send a link to the site to friends, family, and co-workers.

You can donate to Seven Oaks online through our PayPal donations button, or send a cheque or money order to:
