BC Liberal MLA Lorne Mayencourt recently spent 5 days and nights in the Downtown Eastside, but local activists were not impressed. As Campbell's crew tries to put a "human face" on their regressive agenda, the reality lived by this province's poor keeps getting worse.

This week’s protests against the Republican National Convention in New York City include a rally in solidarity with Starbucks workers fighting for their right to unionize. The organizing efforts of these low-paid baristas could spur more service-sector union drives, and help revitalize the labour movement as a whole.
